Honorary Advisor

Dr.M.Satyanarayana

M.Satyanarayana is a  recognized expert of  United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)  and was honored with a CITATION  by Dr.Manmohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for his contribution to the work of IPCC which is the joint winner of Nobel Peace Prize for 2007.

He is an Honorary Advisor to VEDA MACS and has conceptualized and developed the India-Improving Rural Livelhoods project  approved  by the BioCarbon Fund for purchase of carbon credits and provides technical backstopping.  

He worked with Provincial and Federal governments in India and also with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in responsible senior professional positions. He was  the  Country Director of India-Canada Environment Facility (ICEF) at New Delhi during 2005-2008 and coordinated implementation of about  50 projects in energy, watersheds, solid waste management, NRM, Pollution abatement, biodiversity conservation, water quality in various parts of the country.

During his tenure with the Central Government as Deputy Inspector General in the Ministry of Environment and Forests, he was a member of many committees constituted by the Government of India and involved in the formulation of national conservation strategies. Prepared a number of policy / project documents for the Government of India and donors on forest conservation, institutional strengthening, community forestry, forests-tribal interface etc. He was also the National Focal Point for UNFF,   LULUCF in the context of UNFCCC and National Forestry Action Programme.   He represented India  in many international conventions, seminars and organized many international workshops.

He is a  member of the Indian Forest Service with over twenty five years of experience in natural resource management.  

He is a Doctorate in Forestry  and also successfully completed  an M.Sc in Tropical Coastal Management from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and also holds postgraduate qualifications in Botany, Forestry & Allied subjects and Environmental Studies. He also completed a Certificate  Course in Application of Environmental Law from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Geneva.

He is also a resource person to FAO and other international organizations and offered advisory services to the World Bank, DFID, The Energy Research Institute (TERI), Overseas Development Association ( ODA), UN International Tropical Timber Association (ITTO) etc.
